Darkness

Darkness fills the land.

Billows of endless smoke fill the sky,

as the ionosphere illuminates the surrounding of the land

changing them instantaneously from realistic

three-dimensional objects to merely

two-dimensional black and white pictures.

There is silence.

Even if a train roared by, it would not be heard.

The silence would drown out the sound.

Hours pass and still there is nothing

but empty pictures and silence that screams,

throbbing and pulsating ears that strain to hear the silence.

Then warm bursts onto the cold, impenetrable, body.

A ray of light hits its eye and shines brilliantly in the darkness,

recreating the two-dimensional objects transforming them

into the once three-dimensional objects.

The beam sprays color freely onto the tress making their leaves bright reds, yellows, and oranges.

Showering the lakes and waterfalls with brilliant blues and greens.

Filling the Birds with extraordinary voices,

filling the mist off the lake with volume.

Another day has began.
